**Job description**

At Bloom Housing CIC we are seeking a compassionate Support Worker to join us, to be based in Nottingham at Wellesley House.

**About the service we provide**

At Wellesley House we support people who have spent time on the streets to live independently, to achieve, to overcome personal challenges and lead settled fulfilling lives. We offer support to people through tough times through a trauma informed and a person-led approach. We deliver significant and positive change to our tenants at the pace they require.

**How we will help**:

- Provide someone safe to stay
- Move-on housing and support
- Ongoing support to avoid repeat homelessness

**How you will help**:

- Providing one-to-one support
- Support with living skills, such as cooking, cleaning and shopping when required.
- Housing advice and practical support to find move-on accommodation
- Accessing benefits
- Advice on employment, education and training opportunities
- Accessing wider community groups
- Health and wellbeing support

You will be responsible for providing support to individuals whom are homeless and seeking sheltered housing, assist them with maintaining their accommodation and avoiding eviction.

Support workers will work with people to develop positive relationships, supporting people in a flexible and creative way.

**Daily Duties will include**:

- To liaise with other support agencies, to ensure we are providing a high quality and robust support network.
- Be a dedicated member of the team providing a safe, helpful and supportive environment.
- Support people as they transition into accommodation, ensuring they are aware of their tenancy obligations, rent payments etc.
- Provide general, practical, and holistic support to people in order to promote their recovery and/or independence.
- Work with management and local authority to provide the very best support
- Establish and maintain links with the local community, be aware of the resources available to tenants within the community and encourage tenants to access said links.
- Being the driving force behind ensuring the property is safe and lawful by completing fire checks and looking for general property snags
- Signpost to wider partners offering support relevant to needs for example housing/befriending support.
- Be non-judgemental, a good listener and able to facilitate people-led conversations focusing on what a person is capable of to help them identify their own strengths.

**Knowledge, skills and experience required**:

- Minimum of 2 years experience within a supporting role
- Have a positive attitude, be friendly and approachable
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, able to communicate clearly and concisely to a varied audience through presentations or written reports.
- Have a demonstrated history of working within roles that require efficient and organised working.
- A knowledge and understanding of the support needs of complex people.
- An understanding of and familiarity with the working of housing, mental health, criminal justice, and community care agencies (and of the legislations that binds them)
- Knowledge of housing and welfare entitlement
- Work closely with a wide range of professionals, some of whom may have different approaches to problem solving.
- Able to work flexible hours if required
