Outpatient Nurse required for this hospital in Reading, Berkshire. The service covers a wealth of specialities 6 theatres covering a variety of surgical procedures.
**Key Responsibilities**
You must be capable and confident, with the ability to work on your own initiative. You must demonstrate effective organisational skills, show effective communication skills and have a positive and flexible approach to your duties. As part of a team of nursesyou will deliver excellent customer service to the outpatient pre-operative assessment and ambulatory care departments assisting with the management of clinics and the preadmission requirements of the hospital.
**Key duties will include**:
- Collaborating with the medical staff to ensure that the patient is medically cleared for surgery thereby reducing the number of patient cancellations
- Conducting a comprehensive preoperative patient education session to ensure that planned inpatients receive adequate education regarding their surgical procedure, preparation for their stay and rehabilitation expectations
- Taking responsibility for maintaining accurate, timely and complete records ensuring the safety and confidentiality of information
**IDEAL Skills & Experience**
- Recent experience at Band 5 level or equivalent in an acute setting
- Experience in an outpatient setting or pre-assessment
- Phlebotomy skills
**Qualifications**
- NMC Registered General Nurse Part 1
- Basic/ Intermediate Life Support Skills
- ECG and Venepuncture training or willing to learn
