Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Officer to lead on the delivery of the Safer Streets programme in Witham.

The Council, in partnership with the Office of the Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner for Essex, has successfully secured funding under the Government’s Safer Streets Fund for investment in Witham. The Grants enable the implementation of an approved delivery plan which has a focus on reducing Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG), improving women and girls’ feelings of safety in public, neighbourhood crime and anti-social behaviour. This is one of many multi-agency community safety focused projects taking place in the District.

The approved Delivery Plans focus on improvements to streets and areas such as alleyways, communal and play areas. Installations will include CCTV and other public space security measures. The plans also include a number of engagement projects with local residents, community groups and businesses.

The Project Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery, reporting and evaluation of the programme and will work closely with colleagues across both the Council and external agencies to facilitate the implementation.

You will have experience of managing multiple projects and developing/monitoring the associated documentation. You will be self-motivated, able to work to strict deadlines, have excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to build good working relationships.

A knowledge of community safety would be an advantage along with experience of project management and delivery including budgets, performance monitoring and report writing.
