**Role Responsibility**:
Reporting directly to the Service Manager, the **Highways Supervisor** will assist the Operational, Network Management, and Commercial Teams in managing, delivering and evaluating small scale civil engineering schemes and projects. You will be based in Abergavenny, but working on the A465 road around the Merthyr Tydfil area.

On a day to day basis, key responsibilities of the **Highways Supervisor** will include the following (not exhaustive):

- Having involvement in the planning, organising, overseeing and valuing of work such as construction schemes and repairing of roads, cycleways and footways
- Overseeing supply chain activities such as gulley cleansing and jetting, lighting repairs, vehicle restraint system and parapet repairs
- Attending meetings with site representatives, Authority representatives and client representative on a weekly and monthly basis
- Doing site visits to gangs and subcontractors to help solve any issues and ensure that the work is being done safely to the required standards
- Carrying out SHEQ site inspections in accordance with health & safety procedures and safe working practices
- Providing and implementing risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work
- Prepare accurate site records of inspections, incidents and routine maintenance undertaken on the project
- Arranging and processing working timesheets to the Operations Manager and payroll
- Ensuring all COSHH data and relevant safety information is available for employees when needed

**Please note a requirement of this role is to be on a stand-by/callout rota to manage the attendance to emergencies and reactive work outside of normal hours as required**

**Please note that having an HGV Licence is essential for this role**
