West Yorkshire Police is looking to appoint a Digital Imaging Editor to join a small friendly team of editors - who remotely assess images and edit the video identification parades daily. Based at the District HQ in Normanton, the role involves providing a video editing service to the National VIPER® Bureau.
The National VIPER® Bureau provides a high-quality method of recording images of suspects as well as producing video identification parades to police forces around the UK - enabling the effective investigation of crime and supporting witnesses in a safe and efficient manner.
The role requires an enthusiastic and engaging individual who has previous hands-on experience of producing video edits in a professional or an academic video editing environment. Detailed knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, with practical experience in using After Effects and Photoshop software, is a requirement.
- The review and grading of suspect images submitted remotely from VIPER® forces across the UK.
- Editing parades within set timescales.
- Adding masking treatments in line with the standard VIPER® approach.
- Adding photorealistic features to volunteer images on parades where required.
- The maintenance of accurate project and file organisation.
- Recording observations on parades and images to ensure effective collaboration with colleagues and users of the service.
- The provision of technical support to users of the service via telephone.
The following are essential requirements of the role:
- Proficiency in the use of the Adobe Creative Suite, including the ability to use After Effects and Photoshop software.
- The ability to produce edits to set deadlines.
- A proven aptitude for computer based work and accurate keyboard skills.
- The ability to critically review and assess images.
- The physical capability to lift and to successfully complete a manual handling course.
- The ability to participate in a shift rota that will include ‘call out’ duties.
- The ability to travel, on occasion, for business purposes.
