Accounts Assistant

Responsible to Management Accountant at H.O. and General Manger at Bradford

**Department/Role overview**:

- Supporting the Operation team and Management Accountant to facilitate company payments and maintain accurate and timely accounting records.
- Working within the Management Accountant and Head Office Finance Team based at Burnley, Lancashire
- To assist the Management accountant and other members of account department in the operation of accounts payable, including transferring Sales and Purchase invoicing from Trading system to Sage 50
- All Aspects of Purchase Ledger utilising Trading and Sage 50 system

**Essential skills and experience**:

- Relevant accounting experience, in a multi-currency business, training will be given.
- Computer literate with a good understanding of financial and management information systems and highly numerate, utilising Sage 50 and MS Excel
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly, orally or in writing with all levels of stakeholders.
- Must be an enthusiastic, committed individual and be able to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work using own initiative and within a team, with excellent attention to details

- Performing basic office tasks, such as filing, nominal data entry, answering phones, processing the mail, etc.
- Data entry, processing, and recording transactions through the company’s trading system which should include being thorough, accurate with good bookkeeping skills.
- Continuous training will be given

**Main responsibilities**:
**Year One**:

- All aspects of Purchase Ledger including monthly reconciliation of suppliers and weekly payment procedure and ad hoc payment request
- Daily interaction and working closely with Sales Ledger Clerk, ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
- Upload sales and purchases, reconcile and transfer to Sage 50
- Understanding Trading system and accruals in details - training to be given
- Custom clearance invoices and analysis

**Year Two/Three - additional to Year One**:

- Produce, control and reviewing cashflow with help from H.O.
- Processing and r**econciling bank and credit card accounts**:

- Petty Cash and journal
- Produce Monthly Trading accounts from fast freight, including uploading data and reconciling data prior to interfacing with Sage.
- Working closely with Management Accountant at H.O. to produce Management accounts
- Reviewing Monthly Sales and Gross Margin from Fast Freight
- Deferment schedule
- Flaming Good Invoice and their debt chasing
- Process Banking statements and reconcile including foreign
- Actively studying as an Accounting Technician or qualified by experience
- At least one year of experience in a similar role

**Schedule**: Monday to Friday - 5 days only either 8 am to 4 pm or 9 am to 5 pm

**Salary of £22,000 to £27,000 per year, depending on skills and experience**
- 20 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
- Auto Enrolment Pension contributions and BUPA cash plan
- Review after probationary period of 6 months
