My client in **Ashton-under-Lyne**is looking for an experienced **Band 6 Blood Science Biomedical Scientist** for a locum contract.

Job Role:

- To undertake manual, semi-automated and fully automated laboratory investigations on a rotational basis within the Blood Science Department as required.
- To ensure the standard operating procedures (SOPs) are in place and adhered to. To participate in the regular review and update of SOPs.
- Ensure that equipment is used in accordance with departmental policies and suppliers instructions.
- To undertake routine and more complex maintenance procedures on the analysers within The Department. To carry out appropriate internal maintenance procedures and maintain maintenance records.
- To plan and organise their own work within the demands of the team.
- To undertake technical validation of multiple complex sets of results from laboratory investigations ensuring accuracy and precision as specified by laboratory protocols. Also to assess the validity of the results as to whether conflicting information isdue to the pathology of the patient, contamination or compromised integrity of the sample prior to release of the results for clinical validation.
- To measure and monitor the accuracy and precision of laboratory investigations within their Section using appropriate quality control procedures.
- To carry out corrective action and inform senior staff when the quality control procedures indicate loss of performance.
- To prepare reagents required for laboratory investigations.
- To report any instance or event which may cause service delivery failure.

Qualifications and Experience required:

- **HCPC registered as a BMS**:

- Working knowledge of laboratory information and management computer systems and standard IT packages e.g. word processing and spread sheets
- Problem solving & Performing vertical, horizontal and examination audits and other audits.
- Evidence of CPD
- Ability to work within all areas of the department
- Knowledge of theoretical and practical laboratory procedures
- Understands quality control procedures
- Possess good interpersonal and communication skills
- Possess developed technical skills
