Great opportunity is available for a Strategic Buyer to join an established Purchasing Team based in Welham Green, Hertfordshire, for a client who are world leaders within the fire detection industry.

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, the Strategic Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of all materials, purchasing from approved suppliers as well as sourcing and negotiating with potential new suppliers.

This role is with a manufacturer of electronics equipment. A background in this environment would be beneficial but not essential.

Some of the key responsibilities in this Strategic Buyer role will be:

- Negotiate commercial terms and drive commercial improvements
- Manage one-off suppliers and adversarial relationships
- Conduct negotiations with suppliers in order to achieve the best commercial terms for the company
- Develop and manage the database of key information
- Carry out competitive tenders and manage small to medium sourcing projects
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with key suppliers
- Participate in establishing a coherent purchasing strategy

Some of the key experiences and skills required for this Strategic Buyer vacancy are:

- CIPS membership or equivalent or qualified by experience
- Experience in a purchasing / supply chain role
- Experience of manufacturing processes (ideally an electronics environment)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills both up and down the supply chain
- Strong negotiating skills and the ability to build close business relationships

This client is currently operating with hybrid working - 2 days remote and 3 days on-site.
