Walsall, United Kingdom Acorns Children's Hospice Trust Full time

Acorns Children's Hospice are now looking for an Adolescent Worker to join our Family Services Teams in our Walsall Hospice. The Young Person Worker will be an advocate for young people, champion the provision of services and support with their preparation for adulthood.

**About the Role**

Our Hospice Family Services Teams provide much needed support to families when they need us most. It is estimated that for every child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, five family members will be directly impacted. Our aim at Acorns is to help families feel equipped to cope at every stage of their child’s life with dedicated teams offering psychological, emotional and practical support.

As a Young Person Worker, you will be an advocate for the needs of young people within the hospice environment. You’ll work with the young person, listening to their goals and aspirations and help them to prepare for adulthood and transition. You’ll give young people a voice in the organisation, seeking feedback from them and delivering new initiatives to meet their needs.

We have Young Person Workers in each of our three hospices, so you’ll work with each other to meet organisational objectives and to share best practice. You’ll plan, develop and deliver a strategy that achieves operational objectives including creating individual and group therapeutic-based support systems and Young Person Interest Forums.

**About You**

You will be professionally qualified to degree level in a field such as Social Work, Community Nursing, Youth Work, Counselling or Play Therapy. You will have experience of organising and implementing programmes of activity for young people and of providing therapeutic based support to them.

You’ll need to be able to travel around the Acorns region independently and some evening and weekend work will be required to meet the needs of the young people.
