**Job description**

In this exciting 1-2-1 Mentor role, successful applicants will support disaffected and vulnerable students at Key Stage 2/3/4/5 to maximise their potential whilst out of a school setting. The post holder will become part of the 1-2-1 Learning Support Mentor alternative provision team, planning, preparing, and delivering a specialised curriculum for individual key students and also support the monitoring, assessment, recording and reporting on achievement, progress and development for students who attend 1-2-1 learning.

**Duties of role will include being able**:

- To plan and deliver engaging and enriching 1:1 mentoring/support sessions, including sourcing relevant resources and activities and record these on Teams
- To discuss, plan and deliver an individual and bespoke personal development learning programme using the Navigators Level 1 Personal Development Curriculum and resources and record this on Teams
- To keep teaching staff updated of any issues with education element and keep them informed of progress on Skills Forward
- To plan and deliver a wide range of enrichment activities which promote learning, good behaviour, and to improve and develop social skills and well-being and record this on Teams
- To work with management to ensure smooth transition and induction for new students, including 2 week review of placement
- To assist where and when necessary, with the induction of new students
- To record student attendance within 15 minutes of the set pick up time - IRIS
- To inform your line manager immediately of student non-attendance and await instructions to be deployed elsewhere - telephone call and Teams student admin channel
- To always keep students safe
- To be alert and aware of student whereabouts, especially unstructured times of the day (breaks, lunch, recreation and trips to toilets etc)
- To liaise with your line manager, teachers and senior management, keeping them informed about the pupils which you mentor/support - telephone and Teams
- To ensure your line manager and senior management are informed immediately of any concerns in relation to the student’s you mentor/support - telephone and Teams
- To ensure the Designated Safeguarding Lead is informed immediately of any concerns relating to safeguarding in relation to the student’s you mentor/support - telephone, Teams & IRIS
- To report any safeguarding immediately using the systems available (IRIS)
- To attend all Navigators team and other relevant meetings and those that are specifically in relation to the student’s that you mentor/support, such as reviews, local authority strategy meetings and constant liaison with multi agencies
- To maintain daily, weekly and termly accurate records on students which record the planned activities, whereabouts and measure the impact of your intervention - Daily Logs/Weekly Planners/Student Progress Reports
- IRIS
- To provide regular written reports, including interim reports, on your work as a Learning Support Mentor - IRIS & Teams
- To have a full driving license and car is essential as travel to different areas to pick up the student before the start of their session
- Consistently promote Navigator’s successes including the website and social media channels
