At National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO), we’re aiming to operate a zero-carbon electricity system for Great Britain by 2025. This means using wind, solar and hydropower - without relying on any carbon-based generators to balance the grid.

**Job Purpose**:
The primary role of the Technical Delivery Lead will be to lead a team of technical professionals consisting of internal and external partner resources in the development and delivery of project solutions. The Technical delivery lead will oversee a team focused on software development, technical issue resolution, and delivery of the final solution.

The Technical Delivery Lead will work hand in hand with Product Managers to plan, roadmap and deliver on environment build-outs. The Technical Delivery Lead will be the interface between the development team and the product team. The Technical Delivery Lead will support the creation and execution of business critical or complex technical solutions that meet user needs and improve business performance by providing technical analysis, problem solving, and troubleshooting as part of a project development team.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Solution Development
- Provides technical direction for the design, development, and systems integration from definition phase through implementation.
- Applies knowledge of technology trends and developments to improve solution/service delivery for internal and external stakeholders.
- Reviews proposals for technology systems.
- Easily recognizes system deficiencies and implements effective solutions.
- Ensure the timely completion and approvals of product deliverables
Technical Effort Management
- Creates and enables technical plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Keeps team members well informed of status and serves as liaison between both vendors and product portfolios.
- Owns technology oversight and is responsible for managing technical risks throughout various products.
- Identifies risks and plans mitigation action with the PM
- Manages technical resources within budget and project schedules.
- Consistently delivers high-quality service to all stakeholders.
Technical Expertise
- Understands complex technology concepts and effectively employs different solutions as are appropriate to the engagement.
- Possesses demonstrated work experience with multiple vendors and technology portfolios.
- Possesses significant knowledge of client/server and internet systems architectures.
- Understands networking concepts in a WAN environment.

**Supervisory/Interpersonal
- Experience Required**:

- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and external customers at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated customer focus, attitude and excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- A collaborative style that emphasizes teamwork, values the contributions of each team member, and encourages participation in achieving results for the organization and its customers.

**Experience Required**:

- Experience building out/standing up environments from an infrastructure perspective for delivery
- Must have prior experience leading technical deliverables and/or teams.
- Vast experience in a SDLC and/or Agile environment
- Ability to influence and build relationships and demonstrate team leadership in all interactions.
- Good communication skills. Communicates effectively with product team to identify needs and propose alternative solutions.

**More Information**:
A competitive salary between £55,000 - £75,000 - dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 7.5% for on target performance with a stretch performance goal of up to 15% of your salary alongside a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
