**Job Purpose**

The role holder will be responsible for delivering performance within Despatch and Bird drop across the shift, ensuring operational effectiveness is maximised, company and site KPI’s are met, maintaining high technical and quality standards through the development of people, processes and systems.

Leading and Managing the Despatch/Bird Drop team to ensure the department is running efficiently regards to; despatch time loading and unloading of vehicles, scanning of all products with the effective and time production of paperwork, maximising the load plans and quality, grading and segregation of Dolavs from Bird Drop and day to day administration and completion of all necessary paperwork / people tasks.

They will work on improvement projects aligned to the long-term strategy of the company and will be instrumental in creating a sustainable work environment for the team.

To deputise for Post Chill Section Manager in periods of absence.

**Department Performance** - Effectively Manage Department performance and output
- Identify and control the despatch and intake of finished product, raw materials and any other goods as required; including putting products on hold if standard/legal requirements are not met.
- To ensure that all birds reach out to customers in a timely manner based upon the date of slaughter
- Ensure that dressing is hygienic to avoid unnecessary potential contamination of product
- Monitor intake, despatch & chill temperatures ensuring legal compliance at all times
- Record and publish loan plans and vehicle despatches to stakeholders in a timely manner
- Online duties; process control, scanning, loading & unloading delivery note production, load plans, checks and other associated tasks
- Ensure KPI’ boards are filled in on time, making decisions and taking action as required including any SIC’s
- Ensure your area of responsibility delivers improved production efficiencies, namely output, quality, yield, labour utilisation, packaging and utilities and ensure factory variances are achieved within the specific area.
- Manage the process to ensure full optimisation of labour and the reduction of absence, labour turnover and that holiday planning is controlled within the department.
- Take responsibility for ensuring appropriate plans are in place and implemented to deliver peak production activity requirements.
- Monitor trends of all equipment to ensure they are fully functional and utilised with appropriate maintenance plans
- Monitor and maintain all customer service levels, both internal and external
- Provide support and guidance on projects and improvements within the factory

**Technical** - Product Quality/Food Safety/Integrity
- Ensure traceability is maintained on all products and packaging within the area
- Ensure site GMP standards met and are understood and maintained by all staff
- Ensure that an adequate number of staff have key training for things such as CCP’s and that competency is maintained, and such checks are completed in full
- Ensure that quality standards are adhered too and that products adhere to specification throughout the process
- Ensure that food safety, legality and integrity is maintained at all times.
- Ensure yourself and the team observe the company’s personal hygiene requirements.

**People** - Staff Development, Motivation, HR Policies
- Develop, train, coach and motivate your team in conjunction with the HR Department and Training Manager.
- Complete accurately daily register - monitoring for overtime and lateness
- Complete accurately return to works, individual performance reviews (1-2-1s) providing feedback on their performance on a regular basis and identify training and development needs.
- Review and monitor skill levels for the shift to ensure business objectives and requirements can be met, highlighting any areas of concern to Production Manager, Training Manager and HR Department.

**Culture and Communication** - Works to Identify and resolve issues effectively and appropriately
