A busy 7-partner GP Practice within our Primary Care Network is seeking an enthusiastic GP Assistant (Administration and Quality Outcomes Framework) to join our friendly team at our surgeries in Wimborne, Dorset. The GP Assistant will assist the practice in service and delivery of patient care by performing administrative and some clinical tasks on behalf of the GP to enable them to make the best use of their consultation time.

The surgery has high levels of patient satisfaction and a pleasant and covid-safe working environment. Excellent telephone and administration skills and the ability to work under pressure are essential. NHS or medical/healthcare experience is preferred.

**Hours of work**:
Monday to Friday between 0830-1730 - exact days tbc.

**GP ASSISTANT (QOF Admin)**

**JOB SUMMARY**

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of administrative and clinical duties. To participate in the smooth running of the practice, provide support to the whole multidisciplinary team ensuring:

- The delivery of an efficient, friendly, accessible & confidential service to patients
- The provision of an efficient and comprehensive support system for clinical sessions
- To engage in effective workflow of information to clinical and non-clinical staff
- To administrate the carers register

**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST**

- Confident telephone manner
- Ability to cope under pressure
- Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense in response to patients’ enquiries and requests
- Effective time management
- Ability to work as part of a team and on their own
- Be flexible in an environment where the workload is constantly changing and varied
- Effective keyboard skills and good spelling
- An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - ADMINISTRATION**
- Running reports, maintaining spreadsheets and taking appropriate actions
- Assessing and analysing questionnaires reports and spreadsheets
- Arranging appointments, tests and follow-up appointments.
- Ensuring good use of available appointments, prioritising clinical need as appropriate
- Extracting relevant information from clinical documents which require coding
- Participating in the effective running of the chronic disease review processes and how these systems are working both individually and together
- Any other duties to assist with achieving QOF, Investment & Impact Fund and Enhanced Service targets i.e. administration of Learning Disability Care Plans, Baby Immunisations, COPD, services and PSA, coil and pessary recalls
- Assisting with processing practice Tasks
- Being a super-user for Online Services to help patients with queries with the NHS App and online booking
- Assisting with administration of online access requests
- Assisting administration of surgery Facebook and website
- Various registration ‘housekeeping’ duties
- Assisting with adoption and gender reassignment duties
- Where appropriate, ensuring all other administrative work is undertaken and completed
- Administer the carers register / carers lead

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - CLINICAL**
- Arranging appointments for patients who require annual reviews
- Assessing home blood pressure readings and take appropriate action
- Assisting with blood pressure home monitoring loan system, booking in and out and maintaining accurate records
- Supporting our immunisation programme including our annual flu programme
- Learning how to take blood pressures with the possibility of holding small clinics for patients to attend (possibly via the surgery pod)
- Ordering clinical supplies/nursing stock

**PERSONAL SPECIFICATION - ESSENTIAL**
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent including Mathematics and English
- Experience working with the general public including on the telephone
- Experience of administrative duties
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong IT skills including Office and Outlook (in particular Excel and Word)
- Effective Time Management
- Good Interpersonal skills
