**The Role**:
The Terminal Operator is generally responsible for the safe receipt, storage and delivery of bulk liquids of a flammable or hazardous characteristic including the general upkeep and security of the establishment. You will be required to work a Shift System as determined by the operational demands and provide an appropriate level of cover for staff holidays and sickness

**Principal Responsibilities**:

- To run the job area in a safe and reliable way, changing, starting up or shutting down the plant operation as required. To ensure this is done with maximum efficiency and economy minimising plant upset (own and others) and environmental impact.
- To ensure equipment is properly operated and cared for to minimise the need for plant maintenance.
- Contribute actively to the safety of job area plant, by maintaining the area in a safe condition, protecting the environment and ensuring the safety of themselves and all other personnel in the plant area, including visitors. Have a good knowledge and understanding of all safety facilities on all the complex.
- Maintain safety and hazard awareness by attendance and active participation in safety meetings and by thinking ahead to assess hazards / problems.
- Undertake mooring and unmooring activities as directed.
- Establish equipment start up conditions by completing start up checks, communicating information during checks and tests and correcting abnormal equipment conditions.
- Start up designated items of equipment, achieving normal operating conditions and correcting abnormal conditions as necessary. Communicate information throughout the procedure. Shut down equipment by establishing equipment shut down conditions and then shutting down equipment to specified state.

You will be required to work a Shift System as determined by the operational demands and provide an appropriate level of cover for staff holidays and sickness so you must be flexible with working hours and confident in your own ability in working in a hazardous environment.
