The ability to build and maintain relationships in challenging situations such as those involving resistance to change, ambivalence, or selective cooperation with services is also necessary. The role requires excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands. Additionally, the ability to use strategies that promote professional resilience and self-management in challenging situations is important. It also involves working closely with individuals who have experienced all forms of child abuse, which can be emotionally challenging and distressing.
