General Assistant for Large Private House in

**We are looking for a General Assistant to provide basic maintenance, cleaning and servicing tasks as well as general non-technical support to ensure the highest standards of appearance and smooth running of a large, beautiful Estate in the Cotswolds.**
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week, though very occasional Saturdays are required.
**Duties to include**:
**Daily**:
- Routine simple maintenance tasks in support of the House Manager and House maintenance staff. To include internal and external tasks.
- On call to support Estate maintenance staff with staff accommodation.
- Lamp and bulb replacement as required.
**Weekly**:
- Checking cleanliness of House light wells and balcony areas, ensuring that gutters are clear
- Checking serviceability of river launches and boats, including battery charging
- Cleaning and maintaining the Owner’s/guests’ golf buggies (if any)
- Removal of waste and recycling from the Main house to collection points
- Bailing cardboard and emptying the bailer as required
- Assist laundry staff with delivering and collecting dry cleaning
- Assist domestic staff with keeping storage areas clean and tidy
- Emptying the outside cigarette bins around the Main House and churchyard car park
- Checking and emptying bins at Estate church
**Periodic**:
- Clearing roofs and gutters of leaves
- Ensuring drainage grills and culverts are clear and functioning
- Cleaning of light wells and stair hall light dome housing
- Cleaning the boats and boat shed
- Spot clearing of windows between contractor’s visits
- Cleaning of House servicing vehicles
- Stacking logs inside Main House, guest houses and staff accommodation
- Cleaning the barbecues
- Cleaning the outside garden furniture
- Assisting with pressure washing of external flagstones and walls
- Assist the domestic staff with cleaning the Gazebo
- Assisting gardeners with cleaning of park railings and gates
- On Shoot Days, unlocking and securing the Lodge and cleaning the steps and flagstone areas on the morning of use. Making up fires and cleaning fireplaces in the Lodge and managing the logs and maintaining adequate interior stock levels. Taking special responsibility for the shooting tent with regards to servicing and stocking prior to shoots, assistance during the day and closing down afterwards.
- During Principal visits, provide a maintenance stand-by capability with the remainder of the maintenance staff,
- Be prepared to assist the House Manager with a range of enabling tasks, such as shopping, chauffeuring, laying / clearing fires, family facilitation and other miscellaneous tasks.
The salary is £27,000 - £30,000 dependent on experience. This opportunity would suit someone looking to further their career within a private household or someone looking to start a career within a private household and learn how all the teams on an estate work together as you will be an integral part of all aspects of maintaining the estate.
