Publishing Assistant

A fast-growing media company with its principal business in fiction publishing is looking to take on a publishing assistant to help drive the business forward in the years ahead.

The position is full time and 60-80% homeworking. The employee will be expected to be able to work on site at our office in Kington, Herefordshire at least one day per week.

The position would suit an exceptionally ambitious and industrious individual with a love of books who aspires to work in this sector in a professional capacity.

**Job Title**:
Publishing assistant

£17,500 to £22,000 p.a. depending on experience

Full time (35 hours a week)

Start date: April 2023

**Main Duties and Responsibilities will include**:

- Existing competencies or experience in some of these areas is desirable. Training will be provided where necessary._

Assisting with the project management of the production process

Writing and updating content on our website and social media platforms

Preparing manuscripts for publication and assisting with book launches

Working with authors, other team members, designers, and freelancers

Liaising with the public, the press, booksellers and other business associates

**Secondary Duties may include**:
Reviewing, editing, and proofreading manuscripts before publication

Supporting the team in the day-to-day running of the company’s activities

Assisting with stock-keeping, invoicing, and various administrative tasks

**Skills**:
Excellent written communication skills

Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy

Proficiency with computers, especially Microsoft Word

A creative flair for good eye-catching copy

An appreciation and knowledge of contemporary fiction

**The role**:
The role requires someone who will be central to the day-to-day running of the publishing house. They will have positive energy and a can-do attitude. They will be able to work from home, if that is preferred over the Kington office, but will stay in regular contact with the publisher and would be expected to work a day in the office at least once per week.

Cold Peak Media Ltd has its main business in the fiction publishing house, The Book Folks. It also runs a promotion site called BookBongo. The position may occasionally include some tasks for this business.
