Must be available to teach during the day and evenings

Due to recent growth at the College, we are seeking an outstanding ESOL Tutor to deliver our range of ESOL courses, from pre-entry level through to Level 2. This includes both regulated and non-regulated learning.

New Directions College is Reading Borough Council’s Adult Community Learning and Skills service. This year we’re celebrating 65 years of Adult Learning in Reading. We’re a small friendly College delivering to over 2000 learners and Apprentices each year, directly and through our subcontractors and partners.

We are looking for someone with experience of teaching English for speakers of other languages (ESOL), preferably within a community learning environment.

You should also have relevant occupational competence and professional teaching qualifications that enable you to support adult learners to develop their skills, confidence and knowledge in English language and make progress.

You should be passionate about supporting others, have strong communication skills and should have experience of delivering accredited qualifications as well as recording and recognising progress and achievement using standardised tool.

You will be responsible for working with learners to conduct initial assessments, develop their individual learning plan and to set them meaningful targets that will enhance their skills, knowledge and personal skills.

You’ll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability. As well as the colleagues that you work closely with every day, you’ll also be part of Team Reading, playing your personal part in making Reading a successful and vibrant place.
