Part of the PPT Group of companies, James Heal are based in two adjoining former têxtile mills a short distance from Halifax, Town Centre. We Design and Manufacture Testing Instruments and reference materials predominantly for the Textile Industry. You will be joining our company at an exciting time of growth and change as we release new products and continue to expand our global customer base.

We are looking for an experienced Buyer who will enjoy being part of an enthusiastic team and partnering with our all Brands and who will take responsibility for managing a specific commodity group of suppliers.

The purpose of this role is to satisfy our customer requirements by proactively procuring direct or indirect materials as required and manage a specific commodity group of suppliers. The job holder will be responsible for ensuring that procedures are adhered to in order to meet Buyer KPI’s and the specific targets of Delivery & Quality Performance. The job holder will also be responsible for assisting with the execution of the short, medium and long term purchasing strategy. To understand the external and internal environmental factors affecting the commodity and ensure that relevant contracts and SLA’s are in place where appropriate. To utilise Purchasing best practice techniques to achieve company cost, quality, delivery and continuous improvement targets. To ensure suppliers of the correct calibre are used and audited in-line with departmental QAP’s.

**Employment & Educational Background**
- Experience of procurement in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience of operating in an MRP environment preferably with Microsoft Dynamics AX
- Familiarity with world class management techniques and supplier improvement initiatives
- Ability to project manage and lead
- A track record of successful cost negotiation
- Demonstrable New Product Introduction experience.
- Strong analytical skills in Excel
- CIPS or working towards the qualification will be a distinct advantage
