The Role
Reporting to the Global Controller, the Corporate Finance, Tax and Treasury, Executive Director, will be responsible for the global leadership of financial reporting, tax and treasury activities.
This position is part of the Global Controller’s leadership team and plays an active role in setting goals and plans across the Global Controlling organisation.
The Team
Responsible for a team of eight spread across the UK, US and India.
What will you be doing?
Financial Reporting- Oversee all aspects of statutory accounting activities, annual audit process and compliance across all markets globally. Lead the preparation of the annual report and accounts for Conde Nast Holdings following UK GAAP.- Lead the development and implementation of a documented set of US GAAP compliant accounting policies underpinning the recording of all transactions globally.- Ownership and maintenance of the Chart of Accounts - providing clear definitions, ensuring the Market team's understanding and compliance and driving consistent reporting.- Lead the development of a full set of consolidated management accounts for the three financial statements - P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.- Oversight of all balance sheet reporting including management of the risks and opportunities.- Oversight of intercompany accounting processes across the group, working with markets and offshore accounting team to ensure all postings are compliant with the transfer pricing policy set by the tax team, including maintaining robust reconciliations & settlement process.Internal controls- Develop and maintain a documented Internal Control policy environment to minimise financial risks within the company.- Coordinate internal audit activity in partnership with our parent company, driving the completion of audit actions.- Partner with the legal & policy team and contribute to developing a strong control environment within the company.
Tax- Leadership of tax planning, tax policies and compliance across all CN’s legal entities.- Ensuring our global tax operating model is fit for purpose with oversight of all corporate & indirect tax compliance and advisory activities.- Ownership of transfer pricing policies for the group, ensuring they are both commercially and operationally robust and compliant with tax regulations.- Understanding of the tax risk landscape, oversight of all tax audits and outcomes driving remediation.- Lead tax advisory matters for the group, judging risk, triage issues, setting requirements, and determining where external advisors are needed.- Manage budget for external spending for tax compliance and advisory.
Treasury- Lead treasury operations, including cash and liquidity management, systems and control environment.- Evolve the go-forward strategy and operating model for the corporate treasury function to provide a more efficient and effective approach.- Continuous improvement of treasury policies, processes and systems.
Corporate Initiatives- Be the finance lead on corporate projects as required e.g. entity mergers, liquidation, cash repatriation.- Advise on international tax and accounting consequences of legal entity reorganisations, determining where external advisors are needed and managing external spend.
Stakeholder Management- Partner closely with our parent company finance team (Advance) on financial reporting, tax, treasury and other matters as needed.- Manage engagements with professional firms for tax, banking relationships, and statutory auditors.- Collaborate closely with the legal team on corporate governance matters.- Partner with the wider finance team, financial planning & analysis, systems and finance operations.
