**Outdoor Activity Instructor**

We're looking to recruit instructors for the 2023 season - If you're a qualified instructor looking for a flexible, rewarding role working in the outdoors, this is the one for you
Job Purpose: To deliver high quality activities, focusing on the department’s values, to a wide range of client of all ages and any other duties arising.
**Responsibilities of Appointment**:
Outdoor Instructors shall be responsible for session delivery and contributing to ongoing centre upkeep. This includes (but is not limited to):
Putting safety first
Contributing to the planning, preparation and delivery of high-quality activities and/or training in line with safety management procedures and best practice
Delivery of activities for which you hold the appropriate qualifications, or for which you have been in-house assessed, and assisting alongside staff of a relevant level of qualification or experience
Promoting and enabling social development opportunities
Contribute towards the centre remaining budget focused
Be ‘At Your Peak’ delivering a high level of customer service each day
Support the delivery of staff training and in-house activity sign off in line with best practice
Support product and business development activities
Maximising sales of centre specific products, merchandise and consumables
Active maintenance of equipment and facilities to ensure the ongoing safety of clients and staff
Contribute towards the development of physical resources (buildings, land and equipment as appropriate)
Any other reasonable duties commensurate with your role and level of remuneration, which may from time to time be required by the business
Outdoor First Aid Qualification (min 16 hour)
Experience in proficiently delivering of outdoor activities
A passion for delivering outdoor adventure and education
High level of customer service
Flexible approach to working hours and willing to work at other centres if required.
Desirables
At least 1 current national governing body award, ie, ML, RCI, Paddles Sports Coach, RYA DI, Archery GB, RYA Safety Boat, ERCA, RPIOL or APIO (or equivalent)
Personal supporting knowledge of a broad range of outdoor and adventurous activities
Continuing personal participation in outdoor and adventurous activities
Experience of youth work or working with emotional, learning and behavioural difficulties
Proven ability to manage challenging situations and leadership and influencing skills
Full UK driving licence with D1 or +E entitlement
Experience towing a trailer.
**Pay & Remuneration**:
The role pays NLW at the prevailing rate plus a range of increments dependent on qualifications and experience.
**Working Hours**:
Due to the variation of our activities and changing customer requirements our working day is of a flexible nature. Working days are normally approximately 8 hours and include weekend and bank holiday working as agreed with the Centre Manager. However, it is reasonable to expect a seasonal variation in working hours, e.g. longer days in the summer months, shorter days in winter months.
Zero hours: You will not be guaranteed a minimum number of hours of work each week, the Company is not obliged to provide you with any work and therefore in a particular week you may receive no work at all from the Company. However, the Company will offer available hours in writing and you must accept in writing to secure the arrangement.
Where you are offered work, you are not obliged to accept the hours offered if you do not wish to do so, and you will not be penalised if, for whatever reason, you do not accept hours on a particular occasion. However, where you accept an assignment, the Company will expect you to complete the assignment as agreed.
**Safeguarding**:
Successful applicants will require an enhanced DBS check with child and adult barred checklists included - if you do not have one, this can be instigated for you.
