Provide a proactive finance service to the Smithers ERS EU business and appropriately support business managers in the execution of operating plans, forecasts and strategic plans whilst also providing suitable challenge. Communicate and develop the understanding of financial information by operational leaders to enhance their business and financial acumen particularly in the preparation of investment and strategic proposals such as capital expenditure, expansion and pricing
Production and timely submission of accurate monthly management accounting information & analysis, quarterly forecasts and annual business plans to the Smithers EU business and Group
Ensure balance sheet and working capital balances are routinely reviewed and reconciled - Key focus areas include accrued and prepaid incomes, cash & bank balances and general accruals/ prepayments - Ensure transactions are accurately recorded and that balances are managed to support efficient use of cash & capital
Support the production/maintenance of reported financial information, including that required for the preparation of year-end audit and tax packs, VAT returns, other third parties (such as funding bodies) and quarterly Group submissions, ensuring all comply with Group accounting policies
Ensure robust financial controls are in place and adhered to. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including tax compliance. Consider improvements to be made within the risk management framework of the Group
Work with colleagues, IT and third party support providers to appraise the use of accounting systems and seek to identify improvements that could be made for effectiveness and efficiency or to better support the production and analysis of financial information or otherwise add value
Act as first point of contact for the ERS business to support on Finance systems. Assist users with queries & training, monitor time sheeting input, and develop reports as and when required for support/ data analysis
Co-ordinate and lead, as appropriate, on procurement and purchasing initiatives, including collaborating with other group businesses to identify and deliver cost savings and synergies within TSG
Undertake relevant project work and data analysis on an as required basis
Provide ad-hoc support to other Finance Business Partners and the Directors of Finance when needed to ensure provision of cover, resilience of service and delivery of targets.
Qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA or exceptionally experienced QBE
Experience of working within commercial finance roles, ideally within a business services entity. To include: Full breadth of financial responsibilities incl. reporting, planning, control & management.
Experience in working with business leaders to improve commercial performance
