**Job overview**:
An opportunity has arisen for an inpatient Medical Secretary for the consultant covering Garner Ward.

Garner Ward is the dementia inpatient assessment and treatment service for Cornwall. Our supportive and innovative team would like to welcome a enthusiastic Medical Secretary to continue to strive for improvement in processes and work closely with our ward consultant and the mental health act office.

**Main duties of the job**:

- Acting as a pivotal role for all communications, some of which will be of a distressing nature and may require emotional effort by the post holder.
- Patients/Relatives/Carers.
- Consultant Psychiatrists and Medical Staff.
- Liaison with Mental Health Act Office, Tribunal Service and Ministry of Justice.
- GPs.
- Multi-disciplinary Teams.
- Close working relationship with Ward Secretary and Team Administrator.
- Mental Health Records/Governance.
- Integrated Community Mental Health Teams.
- Other Trust staff/staff of Statutory/Voluntary Agencies and Commercial Representatives.

We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

Just over 532,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon.
