**COOKS JOB DESCRIPTION**

ACCOUNTABLE TO: OWNER

MANAGER

RESPOSIBLE FOR: The role of the cook is to prepare and cook meals according to the

set menu and which meet the dietary needs of the residents. To work as a member of the team.

**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

1) To carry out the catering of the home at the highest possible standards.

2) All food to be prepared, cooked, stored, and presented in accordance with the highest standards and samples to be kept daily.

3) Religious, personal, cultural, liquidised diets and special needs to be fully catered for.

4) Residents to be asked which choice they prefer at every meal and a daily menu board completed. A service users quality assurance survey completed 3 monthly.

5) To present food in a manner that is attractive and appealing.

6) To familiarise your self with the law and the homes policies relating to food hygiene and complete the Safer Food Better Business Manual.

7) To maintain a very high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen e.g. working surfaces, equiptment, utensils and storages places etc.

8) To adhere to and sign the daily cleaning rota and wear blue gloves and aprons provided.

9) To take food temperature controls and record daily, and keep a record all meals served.

10) For safety in the kitchen, you are to ensure that precautions are taken to minimise the risk of accidents.

11) To report to the manager any health hazards/faulty equipment that you notice.

12) To ensure that any spillage of any material on the floor ect, is immediately disposed of.

13) To follow and reinforce all health education advises, especially basic hygiene.

14) To carry out other duties that are not specified as above that may be required by the senior members of staff.

15) To familiarise yourself with the Control of Substance Hazardous to Health.

16) To participate and attend in relevant staff and resident meetings.

17) To attend training sessions as required. All staff working in the kitchen to attend the Food and Hygiene course and obtain the certificate.

18) To comply with the homes guidelines and policies at all times.

19) To wear Chef Whites and Hats provided.

20) To order produce daily and maintain stock control.

21) To maintain security in your work area and ensure the kitchen doors remain shut.

22) Check and maintain stock levels in the Kitchen First Aid Box.

23) To safeguard vulnerable adults who reside at The Home.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 22.5 per week

**Salary**: From £11.00 per hour
