Therapies and Rehabilitation are seeking an innovative and creative AHP for a Clinical Lead post in Elective Orthopaedics. This exciting role will offer clinical and strategic leadership to AHPs supporting this clinical area, across occupational therapy & physiotherapy The post is full time & permanent, and will work jointly with an established therapy services manager & the established upper limb clinical specialist & band 7 team.

The Clinical Lead post supports existing AHP services to elective orthopaedics, which includes clinic, in
- and out-patient services at the city campus and some work at the TC. We are looking for a senior clinician in either of the above AHP professions who can offer advanced-level clinical skills and senior decision-making, quality improvement and service development support, reflecting national best-practice guidelines and local innovation. The post will act as a strategic link between the Therapies and Rehabilitation Directorate and Specialty Management Teams within Elective Orthopeadics.

The post-holder must be able to offer strong, visible and accessible clinical leadership. They will contribute to teaching and training within the wider team, and will ensure services are developed in line with NUH’s vision, values and behaviours.

The postholder will be supported by Clinical Lead peers across our respective professions and clinical specialties, alongside therapy service managers and our Directorate Leadership Team.

Main duties of the job

This role will provide strategic clinical leadership in the management of patients under the care of NUH across EO, and will contribute to direct patient care in the postholder’s clinical profession. Core responsibilities are spread over the four pillars of AHP practice: leadership; clinical practice; facilitated learning; evidence, research and development.

Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, physiotherapists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists. Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
- BSc Hons in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy or Dietetics or equivalent
- Recognised post-graduate training relevant to specialty preferably including research skills to a Master’s level.
- Evidence of maintaining professional competence through CPD
- Knowledge of National, Trust and Departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Full HCPC registration

Experience

Essential criteria
- Require highly advanced / theoretical / practical knowledge and clinical reasoning skills relevant to Critical Care pathways

Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within a broad range of services

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
- Able to communicate highly complex information which may be sensitive or contentious to all concerned where there may be barriers to understanding e.g. psychosocial issues language barriers, speech problems, learning difficulties or where English is not the first language.
