Family and Childcare Social Work Teams find substitute families for Children or Young People (Looked After Children) who are unable to live with their own families. This can include adoptive and foster carers as well as within purpose built residential homes.

Looked After Children Teams operate within Family and Childcare Services and alongside external agencies, such as the Education Authority, to provide advice and support for Young People up to the age of 21...and beyond if continuing education.

The role of an Education Support Worker is to support Looked After Children with their Education Plans and to overcome barriers to training and employment.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Education Support Worker in the Omagh / Enniskillen area. This is an ongoing, full time, temporary assignment.

The ideal Education Support Worker will have:

- A relevant Degree or equivalent / higher plus one year experience in a paid capacity to encompass extensive knowledge of the NI Curriculum and the Education Authority structures and functions associated with supporting young people in the primary education system.

**OR**
- HNC / HND / qualification or equivalent / higher and 2 years’ experience in a paid capacity to encompass extensive knowledge of the NI Curriculum and the Education Authority structures and functions associated with supporting young people in the primary education system

**OR**
- Five GCSE’s including English and Maths or equivalent plus four years’ experience in a paid capacity to encompass extensive knowledge of the NI Curriculum and the Education Authority structures and functions associated with supporting young people in the primary education.

**AND**
- Knowledge and experience of working with Education Plans and Education Authority Code of Practice.
- Knowledge of issues facing children in care and leaving care and overcoming barriers to accessing education, training, and employment.
- Willing to register with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) if appointed, in line with NISCC requirements.
- Experience of Microsoft Office including Word and Outlook
- Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criterion will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit then to carry out the duties of the post.
