**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title: Caretaker / Shop Cover**

**Place of Work: Castle Ashby**

**Responsible to: Operations Manager (OM)**

**Hours of Work: As per your Contract of Employment**

**Scope and General Purpose**

To assist with the maintenance and security of Castle Ashby Gardens, Tearoom and Shop and to help within the Shop as required.

**Key Roles and Responsibilities**
- Opening and closing of the barriers and Gardens
- Health & Safety checks (Play area & Gardens)
- Maintenance of buildings and minor repairs
- Maintenance of public services
- Assist in the Shop
- Security / Cash handling
- Dealing with the public
- Phone enquiries
- Occasional Cashing up
- Watering and maintenance of plants and beds around the Tearoom area
- Stimming
- Keeping areas clean and tidy
- Assist in other departments as requested
- Carry out border maintenance as requested by OM
- Assist with checking and safe storage of deliveries.
- Ensure the security of the gardens and machinery, set alarm’s as required.
- Ensure gardens are safe to open all times. Notify OM immediately of any potential risks.
- Assist OM with the running of events.
- Always adopt a friendly focused approach.

**Health & Safety Procedures to Follow**
- Carry out all duties in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Ensure all accidents are reported in line with RIDDOR
- Ensure safe storage of all chemicals, fertilizers and fuels and adhere to COSHH regulations when handling chemicals.
- Adhere to Manual Handling regulations when carrying out tasks.
- Adhere to regulations detailed in the Fire Precautions Act 1971
- Follow emergency procedures as detailed on the notice boards
- Adhere to working at heights regulations at all times.
- Attend training sessions as requested by the OM, for personal development and current legislation.
- Abide by Health and Safety rules as per risk assessments.

**Salary**: £10.00-£11.59 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Northampton: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (preferred)

Work Location: In person

Expected start date: 11/04/2023
