As part of the Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI) Division, we are leading the FCA in harnessing the power of data and advanced analytics to transform financial regulation.
In Intelligence and Digital, a subdivision of DTI, we believe in doing things differently.

- We increase the value of data through promoting data use, improving collections, ensuring data returns compliance, data management and good governance. Our analysis activities and central co-ordination of all data-related activities is essential to FCA regulation being data driven.
Importantly, we believe that people need space to learn and grow and we supply supporting learning programmes and opportunities for all staff.

What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?
Data is an asset used by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) and our partners to support regulatory activities. It directly supports our work to prevent consumer harm. But also helps other organisations, regulators, and Government institutions in achieving outcomes. These outcomes protect consumers, deliver competitive outcomes, and find efficiencies in how we deliver and regulate financial services.
The data we collect through this route is varied and comes in through many routes. So, our data use can lead to several complex arrangements and processes. We also need to work with data in line with good practice and legislation.
In this role, you will work within our growing Data Strategy Service with ambitious plans, for delivering data to the hands of users.
You will report to the Data Enablement Manager and engage with a variety of stakeholders across the FCA enabling business users to access, use and utilise data.
Enabling the organising to use data in including how it is shared, managed, stored, and used will open opportunities. This will help us understand how to better manage and utilise our data assets where we can.
When our data is more visible, we’ll be able to make more use of it in ways we have never been able to before, and we will be able to manage any unseen risks. So, this is a chance to make a real difference.
You will support the business, analyse data, and solve business problems using data You will be aware of data security, confidentiality, and legal requirements such as the Data Protection Act 2018.
Your business and data analyst skills will help us uncover ways in which data can be utilised to best effect at the FCA. As well as what the processes are and how we pipe it in and out of our business. This will improve our data services and data availability. With an aim to ensure that we maximise the use of data, but that we do this safely and within the law.
Your business and data analyst skills will allow you to turn your hand to assessing situations and unpacking the relevant details to surface knowledge and understanding.
Your analytical skills will be crucial in this roles as you may also need to deep dive data from time to time.
You will also be tech-savvy and own excellent engagement skills, as you will have to work across a wide range of stakeholders who hold a variety of positions.
You will be a team player who is a key part of our Data Enablement Service.
The goal is to ensure that we enable the use of data across the FCA. Also, how this is controlled. You will work to build a picture of the data at the FCA and build our in-depth knowledge of what the data is and how it is managed, stored, owned, and used.
