Job Title:
Support Worker

Your Role:
To support adults with learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities in a day care opportunity that provides respite to families. You will work under the direction of a manager.

The aim of the support worker is offer assistance so our adults can live a happy and independent life, whilst feeling valued and respected.

You are expected to support the company by:

- Read, understand and sign acknowledgement that you will abide by all the policies and procedures the company holds.
- Represent the company in a professional manner.
- Recording any medication given.
- Setting up the hall for our adults to access different activities.
- Attending compulsory training. (Please see ‘requirements)
- Driving the company vehicle. (Where applicable)
- Reading risk assessments on any outings we may have.
- Attending a 2 hour meeting every fortnight with the team to air any concerns, wishes, worries and ideas.
- To contribute to the individual care planning process for people using the service by written and verbal communication
- The post holder must have the ability to communicate effectively with other professionals, colleagues, service users and families/carers and have the ability to support individuals with their personal and intimate needs in a respectful and dignified manner.
- All staff that support the adults that attend our day opportunities are an advocate for our adults. Staff MUST act in their best interest at all times.

You are expected to support our adults by:

- Respecting their choices.
- Joining in swimming or sporting activities with them.
- Allowing our adults the opportunity to try new things but respecting them if they were to say no.
- Assisting them with personal care.
- Supporting them with task’s which promotes their independence e.g. making themselves a drink, paying for an item in a shop, cooking a meal, interacting with others.
- Joining in activities where our adults may feel embarrassed or anxious to do themselves.
- Reading their care plan and any behavior support plans or risk assessments they may have, this ensures the best care is delivered in a consistent way.
- Supporting our adults with moving and assisting them from one place to another. Particularly those with limited mobility.

**Requirements**:

- All applicants will have a DBS form completed about them selves. The form has to be clear with no criminal history.
- Applicants are required to successfully complete all/some of the following training during their probationary period. (Training that needs to be completed will be down to the discretions of the manager)
- First aid
- Medication
- Moving and Assisting
- Food Hygiene
- Safeguarding vulnerable adults
- Breakaway
- All applicants must have at least two references.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From £12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.15 per week
