Site Environmental Operative

Help us make a difference as a Site Environmental Operative based from our site in Meece. The Site Environmental Operative will carry out environmental management and control works in a safe and efficient manner under direct and indirect instruction by thesite/operations manager. Also to carry out environmental monitoring and associated reporting of the leachate plant and leachate field to the site manager and to carry out associated tasks to ensure the efficient, compliant running of site infrastructure.

Hours: Mon - Fri 7am - 5pm (half hour paid break, half hour un-paid break) - Sat 7am - 12:30pm (half hour un-paid break).

Total hours per week: 55

- In depth technical knowledge for treatment facilities
- Complete the daily environmental record sheet. Record sheet to be forwarded to the Operations & Site Manager upon completion.
- Daily sampling and analysis of the surface water lagoons / discharge tanks for set parameters. Report any non
- conformances immediately.
- Record various flow meter readings with appropriate comments.
- Check and carry out maintenance of pump systems, dosing systems, heat exchanger, blowers etc. Report with appropriate comments. Defects to be reported as soon as possible to the OM/SM/Environmental Control Advisor (ECA).
- Carry out specified weekly tasks at the discharge tanks / leachate field.
- Run the emergency shower.
- Stock take of all chemicals, report any shortfalls/order requirements.
- Along with OM/ECA carry out monthly housekeeping audits to identify and rectify any shortcomings.
- Carry out daily meetings with the OM/ECA to coordinate activities.
- Daily sampling of leachate tankers and surface water points as required.
- Leachate SCADA control with communication and coordination with the OM/SM/ECA.
- Complete sampling, dipping and flow meter readings of the leachate field including flow lines. as directed by the OM/SM/ECA, reporting any defects immediately. Carry out repairs if possible and when safe to do so.
- General housekeeping at the holding tanks and field.
- Check, maintain and dosing of OCS (odour control system)
- Other duties as required

**Requirements**:
**Here's what we require**:

- Significant relevant experience in waste or environmental capacity
- Full car driving licence
- Either landfill operational or environmental experience
- Able to travel without restriction and work some unsociable hours
- Ability to respond to out of hours call out or emergency
- Able to work unsupervised and act on own initiative when required within guidelines set by the company
- Must be able to write simple but clear reports such as environmental reports, defect reporting etc.
- Minimum GCSE (or equivalent)
