Cardiff University School of Social Sciences are looking for a Recruitment and Widening Participation Officer to work within the School. The role involves leading and managing the Teaching and Learning Team in delivering a professional service to the School in relation to the recruitment, admissions, marketing and widening participation of our undergraduate, postgraduate taught and professional programmes. You will also manage the day-to-day processes of intake management, leading projects and providing advice, guidance and support to key academic staff in their roles. **Key Duties**
- Manage the operation of the School’s recruitment, admissions, marketing and widening participation activities, planning organising and delegating work, monitoring progress and intervening as required.
- Work closely with the Director for Recruitment and Admissions to ensure that the service provision is delivered to the school, proactively changing the delivery according to the needs of staff and the changing external environment.
- Work with the Teaching and Learning Team Manager and academic colleagues to manage the School’s procedures for recruitment, admissions, marketing and widening participation, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting.
- Provide professional advice and guidance on admissions, recruitment and marketing to internal and external customers, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood.
- Take the lead on the development, planning, delivery and management of the School’s conversion strategy & activity through self-management of your own workload and the workloads of others, in order to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the School’s conversion campaign.
- Through collaboration with colleagues based in central admissions, academic schools & other professional services, to plan and agree the School’s engagement with centralised conversion activity, ensuring alignment with both the College based conversion activities and the School’s targets.
- Investigate and analyse specific issues within intake management and prospective student data sets, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances within data capture and reporting software.
- Act as secretary to and member of the Admissions and Recruitment Sub-Committee and provide high level data analysis, planning and procedural support to the Chair in overseeing and monitoring the development and implementation of University policies on recruitment and admissions at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Manage the development, planning, delivery and review of conversion events, including but not limited to current student to offer holder calling campaigns and offer holder university visit days, ensuring that such events are both effective and efficient in meeting the School’s aim of maximising student enrolments. Work with colleagues in the college, central teams and across the school in delivering the events.
- Through positive and pro-active engagement with colleagues, raise the profile and need for conversion activity, as well as sharing innovations in campaign focus and delivery, in order to maximise student enrolments. Maintain an awareness of innovations and developments in conversion activity, in particular for competitor institutions.
- Develop high level and detailed knowledge of University procedures in relation to programmes of study, admissions, assessment, student support, extenuating circumstances and discipline.
- Develop and provide management information data and data analysis, with a focus on recruitment data. Analyse the data sets to establish trends and create forecasts. Present the analysis in a variety of formats and engage in decision making processes based on the data.
