**Job Title: Head of Sustainability & Social Value**

**Location: London, UB8 3NN (Various Locations across ICS sites)**

**Role: Permanent**

**Job Purpose**:

- NWL Procurement Services ("NWL PS”) is part of Client, and provides procurement and supply chain management services across all members ("NWL Members”).
- The Head of Sustainability & Social Value has overall responsibility for developing and delivering NWL PS's approach to delivering sustainability and social value to be delivered through the NWL PS supply chain.
- The responsibility of the Head of Sustainability & Social Value starts in engaging with NWL Member senior stakeholders to inform on the ability for the NWL PS supply chain to deliver enhanced sustainability and social value to inform NWL Member requirements, including leading the process of agreeing targets.
- The Head of Sustainability & Social Value is also responsible for working with the Category Management and Sourcing teams to give effect to sustainability and social value targets in procurement projects.
- The Head of Sustainability & Social Value is responsible for a data-driven continuous improvement review process feeding back into NWL Members and the Category Management and Sourcing teams.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
Operational
- Responsible for working with NWL Member stakeholders to establish sustainability and social value targets to be delivered by NWL PS through the NWL PS supply chain.
- Responsible for developing NWL PS policy and targets (to be given effect by NWL PS Category Management and Sourcing teams).
- Responsible for reviewing delivery of sustainability and social value and updating policy and targets as appropriate to give effect to targets set.
- Responsible for providing and receiving highly complex, sensitive or contentious information when dealing with a range of issues from both internal and external stakeholders
- Delivering significant customer value/ highly sensitive or highly contentious information where there have been significant barriers to acceptance which needed to be overcome

Communication
- Establish professional relationships with identified stakeholders.
- Use well developed communication, negotiation, and influencing skills to engage NWL Members to inform of the ability of NWL PS to delivery sustainability and social value improvement and agree targets to be delivered.
- Build and maintain the reputation of NWL PS as a highly professional service with effective business partnering arrangements ensuring maximum satisfaction among both internal and external stakeholders.
- Champion a culture of customer service excellence and value for money delivery in Sustainability & Social Value.
- Work with the Performance and Reporting team to ensure streamlined process and communication to enable NWL PS to create robust strategies and plans and to drive process efficiency improvement.
- Feed into wider client forums to inform the national approach to sustainability and social value.
- Motivational skills to encourage collaborative working to improve services/performance where there may be resistance to change; Presents workshops to large groups of staff.

Management and Leadership
- Responsible for managing the Sustainability team in accordance with NWL PS strategies and corporate objectives, adding value to NWL Members.
- Ensure that all activity is compliance with NWL PS governance and wider legislation.
- Instil and create positive values and working environment.
- Drive a performance culture within the team to achieve results through others.
- Act as a leader and role model for innovation and improvement within the team.
- Create a culture of flexibility and responsiveness, mobilising the team to respond swiftly to changing priorities.

Professionalism
- Identify, develop, and promote best practices, with the aim of improving NWL PS performance.
- Promoting culture of 'ICS First', enabling NWL PS to take decisions that may not be optimal for the individual NWL Members.
- Provide leadership behaviours, culture, and value of NWL PS to support a high-performing procurement organisation.
- Give effect to the Cultural Principles and Customer Service Principles.
- Actively champion Client Social Value, Sustainability and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion agendas.

Teaching and Training
- Highlight, promote and report innovative approaches relevant to Sustainability & Social Value.
- Maintain a good knowledge of all relevant legislation and emerging policies from government departments and other relevant organisations in defining contract management & SRM strategies and plans.
