About the role
Cambridgeshire County Council's Business Intelligence Service is looking for a full-time Junior Research Analyst to join our Research Team. The Business Intelligence Service are an innovative service providing Business Intelligence to the County Council covering in-depth reporting for many areas such as our children's and adult's social care services, education and highways.

The Research Team delivers research and data analysis for the Council and local public sector partners. Our Junior Analysts are expected to be technically proficient in analysis and the use of analytical tools. They will have some experience in research or other analytical roles combined with excellent IT, time management and communication skills. The successful applicant can expect to develop their knowledge and expertise further and complete complex analysis using Excel, Power BI, GIS software and other data manipulation tools. This could include the opportunity to complete a level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship with our current provider Estio.

Our Research Team is outward facing, working together with a number of partner organisations to provide evidence to develop public policy. We do trade our research services within the public sector and have several contracts with our district councils, Combined Authority, the Greater Cambridge Partnership and others; we also host the region's economic forecasting model. This means we are pro-active and professional in our approach to our research work ensuring that it goes beyond the academic to have a real impact on public policy and on the provision of local services.

This Junior Analyst role is being offered on a permanent part-time or full-time basis and the successful applicant would be expected to work between 22.5 hours and 37 hours per week. We have a hybrid approach to working which includes a mixture of home working alongside some 'team days' being held in our office base at Sunley House in Papworth Everard.

About you
This role would suit someone with knowledge of data collection and analysis. This knowledge could have been gained through employment or study. You should be prepared to provide examples of scenarios when you have worked with a dataset(s) and with analysis software (for example Excel, PowerBI or GIS).
