**Job Description**:

- ** Salary: £22-£26k DOE**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Machinists proficient in properties of metals and in using shaping machines, milling equipment, and grinders for manufacturing precision test samples in accordance with quality requirements
- Operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping and focus on ensuring a safe and efficient working environment
- Provide support within the machining workshop to fulfil business requirements
- Operate machining equipment in a safe manner, in accordance with instruction and manufacturers guidance
- Maintain a clean workspace, free of hazards
- Maintain traceability throughout the machining process
- Ensure that the quality output is commensurate with the requirements of the business
- Report equipment/ instrumentation failure to senior staff member to execute remedial action and thereby ensure continuity of service.
- Maintain organised and auditable systems of work to ensure compliance with UKAS 17025 accreditation.
- Delivery of allocated daily tasks within defined timescales to maximise operational outputs and efficiencies.
- Rudimentary appreciation and understanding of laboratory techniques and equipment to assure minimum quality and health and safety requirements are achieved.

**Qualifications**:
GCSE Science/Mathematics/English, or equivalent, grades A to C or further education in science or engineering would be advantageous
