We are recruiting for a Digital Evidence Officer within an organisation that focus on reducing the incidence of anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, and other community safety concerns to make the Royal Borough a safer, cleaner, and healthier place for our residents, businesses, and visitors.

Within the Safer Spaces Service, the Digital Evidence Team is charged with the 24/7 surveillance and monitoring of public spaces, primarily using the Royal Borough's CCTV system to keep both people and places safe.

Your main responsibility as a Digital Evidence Officer within the team will be to work around the clock to proactively and reactively monitor CCTV, other associated technology, and other sources of digital information to identify.

Also, you will be required to respond or otherwise prevent threats to community and public safety across the Borough. This is not done in isolation, but with colleagues and partners across Council services and external agencies.

**Key Responsibilities**
- To work shifts covering the 24/7 period and have a flexible approach to duties and working hours. On occasion, there may also be a requirement to work paid overtime and undertake duties at short notice at appropriate rates and allowances.
- Using identify offenders and provide high quality evidence to enable investigations and were necessary prosecutions and if required provide written witness statements and attend court if necessary.
- To operate the CCTV system and associated technology in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies, and operating procedures.
- To ensure all logs, reports and records are produced accurately and promptly, covering all activities involving CCTV both externally and internally within the Control Room.
- Monitor any emergency which develops and liaise with other officers and agencies to minimise public safety risk as directed/requested.
- Report all faults and failures of CCTV or other equipment as soon as they occur to the contractors responsible for their maintenance and record all details as directed.
- To liaise with the Police and other authorised agencies for the viewing of images in support of enforcement investigations and operations.
- Monitor the Police Airwave radio and respond to requests for assistance. Alert Council and Police Officers (as appropriate) to any incident or potential incident requiring their involvement as soon as identified, and support agencies to safely resolve any such matters to their conclusion.
- Monitor and help support the Royal Borough's Town-watch radio scheme as directed.
- Maintain the integrity and security of the control room and its' contents, ensuring only authorised personnel are permitted and are correctly booked in/out.
- To participate in in-service training as appropriate in order to maintain occupational and operational competence, including that directed by the Head of Service to improve operational delivery and outcomes achieved for the those living in, working in, or visiting the Royal Borough.
- Ensure that reasonable care is always taken for health, safety and welfare of yourself and other persons, and to comply with the policies and procedures relating to health and safety within the service.
- To operate with mínimal levels of supervision.
- As directed, to support and safeguard any vulnerable individuals identified/observed through appropriate recording and referral (e.g., Street Population).
- To identify and contribute to the problem solving of community safety issues, for example relating to street drinking and illegal street trading.
- To appropriately gather and share community intelligence within the Council and with our partners.
- To build good working relationships with others, both inside and out of the Council, in support of Integrated Enforcement.
- To contribute to multi-agency enforcement operations and action days.
- To make effective and efficient use of computer systems to appropriately record and process information.
- To carry out duties and responsibilities in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR).
- To actively promote/support the Council's Values, our Equal Opportunities, Customer Care, Environmental and Health & Safety policies, and duties.
- To appropriately use (and maintain as appropriate) any vehicle, uniform, or other equipment provide available in support of duties being performed.
- To carry out any other work appropriate to the level, general nature of the post's duties and which is appropriately risk assessed.

**To Be Successful**:

- Hold a valid L2 in Public Space CCTV Qualification as a minimum.
- Basic knowledge of CCTV related legislation and codes of practice.
- Basic IT skills, including ability to use (or learn to use) a range of CCTV related software
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately orally and in writing.
- Good eyesight and hearing and ability to recognize colors.
- Willing to undertake non-police personnel level 1 vetting.
