**Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 per annum About the role** Motability is a national charity that believes that no disabled person should be disadvantaged due to poor access to transportation. We help disabled people enjoy the freedom and independence to work, to learn, to access services, and to see family and friends.

We provide a range of grants to help people with different kinds of disabilities and we oversee the Motability Scheme, delivered by the private company Motability Operations. The Scheme has more than 650,000 disabled customers who use the enhanced mobilitybenefits they receive from the Government to lease a car, scooter or powered wheelchair.

**Purpose of the role**: There are two key elements to this role:

- To research external factors relevant to the operation of the Scheme including Government policy and developments within the automotive sector.
- To analyse and report on Scheme performance as delivered by Motability Operations.

**What you'll be doing Research**:

- Monitor Government policy and legislation for:

- The automotive sector including: transition to Electric Vehicles in 2030 / 2035; emissions legislation; introduction of Clean Air / Congestion Zones; taxation on motoring including potential Road Pricing.
- Disability, including disability benefits that determine eligibility to the Scheme.
- Any changes that might impact the lives of disabled people, in particular their ability to access transport including all aspects of public transport.
- Keep up to date with developments within the automotive sector during a period of significant change including the transition to electric vehicles and the restructuring of motor retail towards manufacturer direct sales and online.
- Prepare research summaries and conclusions for directors and governors.
- Consider policy implications for the Scheme following research projects.

**Scheme Oversight**:

- Analyse performance and report against Scheme operational objectives.
- Recommend improvements to the Scheme.
- Participate in policy and process reviews.

**Management Information and Reporting**:

- Collate essential Scheme operational data into the agreed performance reports, key outputs include the Key Performance Indicator pack.
- Present high level monthly operational results commentary, identifying significant issues and trends affecting key performance indicators.
- Compile and manage the storage of Scheme operational data and metrics as a management resource, producing standard and ad hoc reports as required.

**What will make you great in this role?**:

- Effective data analysis, compiling conclusions and producing recommendations.

**Your experience** Must haves:

- Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally a financial or numerate based degree.
- Experience of writing management reports.
- Experience of analysing data, compiling conclusions and producing recommendations.
- Excellent writing skills, including accurate use of language and grammar.
- Ability to handle and analyse high volumes of data.
- Able to work on own initiative.

Nice to haves:

- Experience in use of databases.
- Experience in business related research and research of Government policy.
- An interest in current affairs and Government policy.

**Reporting lines and relationships**: Reports to: Head of Scheme Oversight

Key relationships: Motability Directors, Managers and Staff, Motability Operations, Department of Work and Pensions.

**Extra information**:

- The role is based in Harlow, Essex, easily commutable from London, 30 minutes from Liverpool Street station, or 20 minutes from Tottenham Hale.
- Blended working is available within this role.
