The Cancer Patient Coordinator will provide a comprehensive administrative service to support cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, which involves the effective management of accurate and timely information to enable clinical decision making at the weekly MDT meetings. The role encompasses registering and close monitoring of patients with suspected or confirmed cancer throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway.

The Patient Coordinator will liaise with various departments within the hospital to ensure all the relevant information is available for the MDT meeting. In addition, he/she will communicate with referring organisations to capture all the relevant details of patients to be discussed at the Cancer Centre MDT(s) and to keep the referring organisation fully informed of their patient’s outcomes following the MDT meeting.

The post holder will proactively coordinate patient pathways ensuring that all appointments, diagnostic tests and treatments are booked within the Cancer Waiting Times targets, escalating issues as soon as they arise in accordance with the Trust Escalation Process.

The post holder will ensure that all data items are collected within predetermined time scales to comply with Cancer Waiting Times; Cancer Registry dataset; Radiotherapy dataset; Chemotherapy, Cancer Outcomes and Services Dataset and the relevant national clinical audit minimum dataset(s). All data will be collected and stored in the Somerset Cancer database. The post holder will be responsible for accuracy and completeness of cancer patient data.

**HUTH has two main sites**: Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital with an annual budget of approximately £800 million. The Trust employs around 11,000 staff and serves an extended population of 1.25 million, delivering a number of outpatient services from locations across the area.

The Trust’s secondary care service portfolio is comprehensive, covering the major medical and surgical specialties, routine and specialist diagnostic services and other clinical support services. These services are provided primarily to a catchment population of approximately 600,000 in the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire area.

HUTH provides specialist and tertiary services to a population of 1.25 million extending from Scarborough in North Yorkshire to Grimsby and Scunthorpe in North East and North Lincolnshire respectively.
