**Description**:
**The role**
As a Content Editor working on FreeAgent’s Knowledge Base, you will be responsible for delivering well-written content that helps our customers use and master FreeAgent, explains new features as they’re released and relieves the burden on our support team. This content can include Knowledge Base articles, video scripts, blog posts, internal training assets and website copy.

The role will require you to take on board information from a brief and work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver content that aligns to the principles outlined in FreeAgent’s style guide. It will also require you to respond to feedback from the senior content team and other comms, product and support colleagues in order to refine a first draft into a finished piece of content.

**Key responsibilities**
- Writing and editing_
- Use writing skills to create a variety of content for FreeAgent’s Knowledge Base and other platforms, following instructions provided on a brief and house style guidelines
- Develop a deep understanding of FreeAgent’s features and functionality in order to explain them accurately in our content
- Write clearly and understand different content types, audiences and objectives
- Edit with precision, removing ambiguity and creating clarity at every opportunity
- Understand content strategy and follow it in execution of content work
- Help senior content team with copy editing/proofreading work when required
- Provide administrative support to senior team for content projects
- Contribute to idea-generating sessions for content projects
- Understand how we measure the success of our content and use tools to access this data when required
- Content strategy and analysis_
- Contribute to the development of new content strategies and evolution of existing strategies through data-driven insights and knowledge and experience of best practice
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of the metrics we aim to influence with our content strategy, report on them confidently and suggest ways to achieve greater impact
- Work with the content manager and senior content team to execute content strategy effectively
- Collaboration_
- Create content for Knowledge Base projects against detailed briefs produced by colleagues in the support and product teams
- Understand how factors such as audience and objectives for a piece of content should influence the direction of messaging and copy choices
- Know which questions to ask to gain all info required in order to complete a piece of content work to the highest standard possible

**Work pattern**:
This is a permanent full-time role (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) although we're open to discussions on flexibility.

This role will be based in our Edinburgh office, however there will be an opportunity to adopt hybrid working, under an agreed pattern of 2 days from the office and 3 days at home each week. Working from home is second nature to us as we have been championing remote working for 16 years.

**You**:
FreeAgent’s Content team takes complex information and turns it into compelling writing for our customers. To be successful in this role, you’ll be an excellent communicator who can adapt your style according to the demands of a brief. You’ll be comfortable working quickly and independently, and you’ll respond positively to editorial feedback. You’ll join a friendly and supportive team of writers, editors and content specialists who'll help you develop your skills and produce work you can be proud of.

**Ideally you'll have experience of**:

- writing for the web and/or other digital platforms
- creating or editing content that explains how to use a product
- creating or editing content within the technology or SaaS arenas
- working with briefs and collaborating with other teams to create content
- working with content management systems

Bonus points for:

- experience working with Google Analytics and other content performance measurement tools
- knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping in relation to small businesses

**Perks**:
The salary band for this is
**£27,200 - £32,000** per annum. Salary bands are linked to performance expectations, to help nurture our culture of learning and fairness. A starting salary would likely leave some opportunity for growth within the band.
