- **Working Hours**:_ 10am-12pm: Sundays + holiday cover. Cover requests will not extend beyond 10am-12pm, any day.
- **Contract Type**:_ 2 hours + overtime/cover
- **Pay rate**:_£15/hour
- **Job Summary**_
Smart Gym is looking for a patient and attentive Crèche Supervisor to supervise children whilst their parents workout. The role requires someone with exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to form trusting relationships with parents, children, staff and other members of the community. This role is central to supporting the operational delivery of the Smart Gym model and requires someone who shares the company’s culture, particularly our social values and commitment to the families we support.
- **Context of theRole**_
Crèche Supervisor will oversee our crèche/soft gym facilities by monitoring the behavioural and emotional concerns of children, providing them with age-appropriate guidance and working with parents to ensure that children socialising in a positive way. This role will also require you to assist with disinfecting soft gym equipment and other duties to ensure that the children are in a safe, engaging, and clean environment. Crèche Supervisor should be thorough and caring with an exceptionally level of awareness and alertness. You should be prepared to meet the physical demands of the position and have an understanding of the childhood development process. As we are a new organisation, some posts throughout the early stages will have a certain degree of cross-over. In the case of Crèche Supervisor, you will be expected to undertake basic reception/admin/customer service duties ONLY when there are no children present in the crèche.
**Responsibilities**
- Ensuring all first-time members sign a waiver at the beginning of their session.
- Encouraging and explaining to children the use of age-appropriate equipment, including gym toys and smart mirrors.
- Maintaining a safe workplace: monitoring children for health, behavioural, and emotional issues and reporting concerns to staff and parents.
- Helping children discover the importance of exercising and socialising.
- Ensuring children are learning positive behaviours and providing guidance as needed.
- Preparing children to enter the next level of care or for entry into school.
- Keeping records relating to child care.
- Working with parents to help children progress towards educational and behavioral goals.
- Greeting/thanking people at the reception desk outwith crèche hours.
- Showing people around the gym; explaining services/USPs, memberships options, how to book, etc.
- Signing up new members using gym management software, Glofox (we will provide training for this).

- At least two years' experience in a similar role.
- Decisive, patient and alert with attentiveness to the needs and safety of children.
- The ability to forge strong relationships with parents, children, staff and members.
- Strong understanding of stages of childhood development.
- An ability to summarise complex information clearly and concisely, both when delivering services and reporting progress.
- Sociable, enthusiastic and polite with a positive approach to work.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Our children are watching everything we do, and we know that our mental health has a serious impact on them.
For example, Stanford Medicine estimates the heritability of depression is 40-50%. This is worrying because 1 in 5 new mums and 50% of their partners develop a mental health issue following the birth of their child.
Research shows that exercise is just as effective as antidepressants for treating depressive disorders but for most parents and carers, gyms are not accessible or affordable.
In a pre-launch survey of 549 Glasgow caregivers, 70% of parents reported that their biggest barrier to exercise was "childcare commitments", whilst the biggest barrier for 13% of parents was that "gyms are too expensive".
Smart Gym is a social enterprise formed by parents to break these barriers and prevent family history repeating itself in future generations.
