We are currently looking for **two Casual Wildlife Assistants** to join our brilliant team at **Mallydams Wood Wildlife Centre** near Hastings, East Sussex.

Mallydams Wood is a wildlife rehabilitation and education centre that also contains a woodland nature reserve. We are equipped to deal with a variety of wild animals, from orphaned fox cubs to oiled birds, and have a knowledgeable and experienced team who treat, rehabilitate and release wildlife casualties, as well as monitor their survival in the wild.
- Working hours: this is a casual (zero hours) contract to cover the rota during busy periods and staff absences. Shifts are expected to take place between 08.00 and 20.00.

**What a day might look like for you**

Join our incredible team where you will contribute to the vital work of rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing British wildlife. As a Casual Wildlife Assistant, your responsibilities will include maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our facilities, providing hands-on care and rehabilitation for various wildlife species, and collaborating with different departments and organisations to ensure the well-being of our animal patients.

**What makes a great Wildlife Assistant?**

To excel in this role, we are looking for individuals with previous experience in wildlife care, particularly in animal welfare or charity settings.

Essential skills include wild animal handling, assessment, and first aid, along with emotional resilience to handle distressed wildlife.

Your days will be dynamic and demanding, requiring excellent organisational skills, the ability to work independently and to communicate effectively with the wider team.

Additionally, proficiency in maintaining digital records and access to reliable transportation are important for this position due to our rural location.

**Job Type**: Zero hours contract

**Salary**: £12.82 per hour
