**The Company**

ES Gardens is a gardening and landscaping business based in Syston, Leicester which provides high quality garden maintenance, restoration and design services.

The company have won Gold medals for 'Britain in Bloom’ and 'Best Nature Garden’ awards and Elizabeth is an RHS mentor and assessor, a Forest School leader, and winner of the 'RHS Green Plan-It Challenge.’

We are currently in the process of developing our new 5-acre site which is used to run Forest Schools, community workshops and other social prescribing activities.

**Purpose**:
To work with one of the existing ES Gardens gardening teams performing manual gardening tasks around Leicestershire, providing a knowledgeable point of contact for the team and ensuring that all team members are performing their tasks efficiently and toa suitably high standard.

**Salary and benefits**
- The role is paid at the rate of £22 - 26k per annum BOE

ES Gardens provide gardening and landscaping services to private clients and community groups in the Leicester area on projects ranging from regular maintenance and renovation to full garden redesigns and specialist installations.

The role is for a senior gardener to join ES Gardens undertaking all aspects of gardening projects and services.

This is a full-time position and we work all year round.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Driving company vehicles to and from locations of work.
- Supervising gardeners to perform manual gardening tasks.
- Ensuring deadlines are met and an appropriate pace of work is maintained.
- Understanding risk management.
- Complying with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc
- Knowledge of smartphone / tablet operation is essential.
- General gardening including:

- Maintaining and weeding borders and other planted areas.
- Pruning of trees and shrubs.
- Setting out and planting of trees shrubs and other plants.
- Ground preparation.
- Cleaning and maintenance of tools and equipment.

**Person Specification**

You are driven to deliver a service above expectations and take pride in what you and your team do.

You must have good communication skills, conduct yourself in a professional manner and be well-presented.

You should have the ability to supervise a team of workers performing physical gardening tasks.

Significant practical experience in gardening supported by relevant qualifications.

Good plant knowledge.

Competent with the use and maintenance of hand tools, garden machinery including hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, strimmers, pedestrian and ride on mowers.

Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and practice.

Having a good work ethic, being self-starting and able to work within a team are also essential for this role.

You will perform any other duties relevant to the grade which might be specified from time to time by your manager.

**Key skills/ Qualifications**

Essential:

- Minimum of 2 years gardening experience.
- Good plant knowledge.
- Good customer service skills.
- Experience of using garden machinery such as lawn mowers, blowers, and strimmers.
- You must hold a full, clean UK driving licence as you will be required to drive a team to sites in a company van.
- GCSEs or equivalent.

Desirable:

- Apprenticeship or specialisation is an asset, but not necessary.
