**The role**
As a housebuilder delivering 1,500 new homes annually, Orbit Homes is one of the country’s major housing developers. Our “Your place to thrive” brand, positions Orbit Homes in the market as an aspirational, contemporary and responsible housing developer. We’re delivering a truly varied range of homes, from private sale and shared ownership to affordable and social rent properties across the Midlands, East and South East of England.
Following an internal promotion, we are recruiting a Construction Director to lead Orbit Homes housebuilding operations across the East of England. As part of the Regional MD’s senior management team, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing our growth strategy to reality.
This role is part of Orbit Homes where you'll help us to build 6,500 new affordable homes by 2025 in a sustainable way.
**What you'll achieve**
The Construction Director will work to achieve the regions agreed development strategy and business plan, focussed on time, cost and quality targets to deliver a profitable operation, while growing the region to c450 homes per annum.
- Further develop our commitment to a fantastic health and safety and compliance culture
- Achieve high standards of construction quality and delivering cost competitive homes through direct build and third-party contracting
- Manage the Customer Care operations to deliver a 5-star service
- Ensure all homes meet compliance requirements, including internal compliance and data capture, HCA/GLA audit, planning and other statutory regulations
- Contribute towards the pre-construction phase by reviewing technical aspects and buildability, attending planning meetings as appropriate
- In consultation with the Sales Director and internal customer requirements deliver and issue construction programmes
- Manage WIP on sites in line with optimising cash flow and forecasting
- Forge effective working relationships with internal and external customers, main contractors, sub-contractors, consultants and stakeholders.
**What you'll bring**
**Essential skills**
- Excellent knowledge and experience of building technologies, quality control procedures and best practice in residential construction.
- Demonstrable experience in programming and successfully delivering market sales housebuilding to the agreed quality and cost standards.
- Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams
- Effective management of supply chain partners, third party contractors and consultants.
- Membership of Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Royal Institution of Architects (RIBA) or equivalent by experience.
