This post provides an exciting opportunity to gain extensive experience in the management of patients with malignant lymphoma.

The post holder will provide clinical cover for patients with malignant lymphoma in both the in-patient and out-patient setting and be trained in all aspects of the management of lymphoma.

The post holder will work within the lymphoma team based in the Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre (BHOC). Duties will primarily cover all aspects of the care of patients with malignant lymphoma including diagnosis, primary therapy and relapse therapy.

The Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre is a tertiary referral centre for allogeneic stem cell transplantation and CAR-T cell therapy, and there is a specialist interest in stem cell transplantation in lymphoma. The post holder will be expected to play an active role in research and conduct their own research project.

The postholder is also expected to participate in out-of-hours cover, on a middle-grade rota covering Saturdays & Sundays between 9 and 4 (1 in 10), and on the registrar general haematology out-of-hours rota on an adhoc basis.

The post holder will work within the lymphoma team based in the Bristol Haematology Unit. The team comprises 7 consultants (Dr Stephen Robinson, Dr Lorna Hawley, Dr Matthew Beasley, Dr Sanne Lugthart, Dr Claire Burney, Dr Laura Percy and Dr Nikesh Chavda), and two clinical nurse specialists (Mary Collins, Lisa Castellaro). The appointee will attend the weekly lymphoma clinic which sees more than 200 new patients each year and be responsible for taking patients through their diagnostic pathway. The post holder will also be responsible for the day unit review of patients with lymphoma who are undergoing treatment or attending for emergency review. There is a weekly pre-assessment Clinic for the supervision and prescribing of chemotherapy for lymphoma patients. Radiotherapy is provided on-site and there is additional on-site extra-corporeal photopheresis for patients with cutaneous lymphomas. The Bristol Haematology Unit also cares for patients undergoing intensive induction and salvage chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation. The post is ideal for either haematology trainees at the end of their training or as an Out Of Program training experience. Please note that the post is planned to start Aug 2024 and is a fixed post for 12 months.
