Diabetic Eye Screening Programme - Screener/ Grader

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Diabetic Eye Screening Programme (LLR DESP) as a Screener/Grader. Our team operates daily screening clinics at a variety of sites across the LLR area.

Please ensure you can provide evidence of the required qualifications, as you will be expected to present these at your id check appointment if successful.

This is a development role with the post holder working towards progression to a DESP Qualified Screener Grader at Band 4, supported by the successful completion of the Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Diploma in Health Screening and successful completion of the competency assessment framework.

The trainee will work as part of the clinical Diabetic Eye Screening Programme team delivering health care that focuses on the direct needs of the patient. They will carry out specific clinical tasks and responsibilities as part of their training program as delegated by registered DESP Screener Graders in conjunction with their competencies.

In addition, the post holder will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Diabetic Eye Screener within a specific clinical setting and ensure successful completion of the DESP Training Program.

The Trainee Diabetic Eye Screener will provide compassionate care to agreed quality standards.

The Trainee Diabetic Eye Screener will keep the patient at the centre of his/her care ensuring patient and carer participation in decision-making.

The Trainee Diabetic Eye Screener will safely delegate tasks as appropriate within their sphere of responsibility.
