- We are currently recruiting for a temporary Research Facilitator to work on site at one of our centrally based departments starting ASAP for approx 12 weeks working approx 29 hrs p/w (may be able to offer some flexibility on these hours) paying £14.72 p/h**Duties**:

- Provide assistance preparing and finalising grant proposal documents with an emphasis on preliminary budgets as agreed with the Research Facilitator
- Support the administration of research projects to ensure they operate in line with funder terms and conditions and University regulations, that expenditure is appropriate, and that proper records are kept.
- Support the work of the Finance Manager in administering research grants, for example by preparing financial reports on individual research projects or monitoring suspense accounts.
- Support the Finance Manager in the administration of specific projects or budgets as appropriate.
- Liaise with central University teams that support research activity, in particular Research Services and Research Accounts.
- Prepare consultancy contracts and costings, liaising with consultants and the Finance Manager.
- Respond to queries from research staff in the department or from central teams.
- Undertake transaction processing as relevant, for example, processing expense claims and preparing purchase orders in line with University policies and ensuring that value for money is obtained.
- Carry out reporting and checking that income and expenditure are correctly posted to relevant cost centres or research accounts and posting journals to make adjustments where necessary.
- Undertake other duties when requested commensurate with the grade.

**General**:

- Develop a detailed understanding of the Financial Regulations and guidelines set out by the University and funders, perform duties in line with the Financial Regulations and proactively encourage staff to adhere to the regulations.
- Develop strong networks with key contacts in the Social Sciences division, Central Finance, and other academic departments.
- Undertake training and development activities to ensure skills specific to the role are kept relevant and up to date.
- Support the work of the Administration Team, offering cover for sickness and absence as required.
- Other appropriate duties as required by the Head of Administration and Finance.

- Experience of interpreting financial policies
