Our client is Kent’s premier building, civil engineering, quarrying and property business, with an enviable reputation for doing things properly and getting things done, while still caring about the local community and environment.
They now have an exciting vacancy within their IT department to support the changing needs of their ever-growing business, which is now some 200 users.
The company is looking for a dynamic person to work within their IT department and become the primary escalation point for IT support activities covering the service to the company's Head Office, their Quarry location, and their site operations teams viaInternet-based VPN connectivity, as well as working on ad hoc improvement projects.
The successful IT Support Engineer will be a team player with a natural ability to fault find Software and Hardware issues and be able to build and configure IT equipment. They must also have excellent communication skills and the ability to resolve difficultproblems for remote staff in a pleasant manner.
**Primary Duties/Tasks**:
- Providing 2nd line technical support for office-based staff and our site-based users.
- Providing support to Specialist systems (Opera 3, CIS, Causeway, MCS, Weighsoft, Command Alkon, AutoCAD, Leica).
- Escalating to 3rd line support (both internally and to external suppliers) where required and managing this through to resolution.
- Assist with the provision of site setups, from design to production.
- Assist with the provision of mobile phones and associated accessories.
- Active directory account management (including starters/leavers).
- Morning Operations (Checking Backups (Veeam) and IT systems).
- Providing technical support to projects as needed.
- Server maintenance and administration (MS Windows 2012 and 2016) including updates.
- Ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems (Exchange 365, Manage Engine Service Desk Plus, Mimecast, Webroot, Websense).
- Providing support to all Network Infrastructure (SDWAN, HP Procurve Switches, Ubiquiti Wireless systems).
- Providing cover for the helpdesk, as and when required (out of shift, holidays, etc.).
- Maintain and Improve Departmental documentation.
**Experience/Skills**:
- Minimum of 5 years practical experience in an IT support/service function/role.
- Working knowledge of MS Office products including Access and SharePoint.
- Demonstrable customer service-oriented skills.
- Full Driving Licence and own Car.
**Benefits/Details**:
- A 40-hour working week. Monday - Friday, Covering Business hours 7.00 am to 6.00 pm (1-hour lunch).
- From time to time the job holder may be required to work 'out of business hours' and some weekend working may be required in order to complete tasks that cannot intrude on normal office hours. Overtime or time off in lieu will be offered.
- Occasional Travel to sites will be required, The IT van is available for these.
- Staff car park is currently available at Head Office.
- A competitive starting salary of £30k-£40k is being offered for the right person, dependent upon knowledge, experience, and suitability.
