The Early Years and Childcare Team within the City of York Council have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced person to be the lead adviser for out of school provision in York.

About the role:
To provide comprehensive, high-quality advice, challenge, professional guidance, and support to the maintained, private, voluntary and independent sectors in relation to out of school provision.

The focus is to improve outcomes for children in line with legislative standards, statutory Ofsted welfare requirements and the ethos of the council’s Children and Young People’s Plan - putting children at the heart of everything that we do.

The role includes facilitating effective negotiations between new and existing out of school staff and voluntary management committees, owners and headteachers to ensure good collaborative working.

You will need to ensure that support for Out of School Clubs, Schools, and Shared Foundation Partnerships is effective to provide high quality childcare and tailored activities for children and young people. A proven record of success in providing high quality provision for primary aged children is essential as you will be supporting providers to improve the quality of their provision.

A working knowledge of safeguarding, SEND and children in care is fundamental as you will be responsible for ensuring all out of school providers are inclusive in their practice.

The role will include travelling to various locations across the City of York to visit Out of School clubs. Your contractual location West Offices.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
