**Overview of Responsibilities**:
**Who are we looking for?**

The H3AT Department is looking for a waste coordinator to work alongside multiple wastes produces and the processing of waste, making each day different. The Services Group coordinator is a local expert in radiological controlled and hazardous waste supporting the management of waste on the UKAEA campus.

You will be working with a group of scientists and engineers to develop new techniques and methods for processing radiologically controlled waste. You will also be the primary point of contact for controlled and hazardous waste, advising stakeholders and processing teams on analysis and procedures for specific items. You will take the lead and be responsible for the delivery of specific or specialised waste projects.

**What will you be responsible for?**
- Advising on waste activities for waste producers along with the production of processing procedures and training.
- Training local workforce in specialist techniques or tasks, co-ordinates and works with various stakeholders such as RWA’s, RPA’s and DGSA to achieve waste processing and decommissioning goals.
- Providing expertise advising internal and external stakeholders on technical issues regarding waste management on the UKAEA campus.
- Generating and maintain waste conformance documents with stakeholders.
- Leading radiological controlled and hazardous waste projects

£36,397 to £38,620 (inclusive of MPP) + excellent benefits including outstanding pension- Programme

Full-time**Qualifications**:
**Essential skills, experience and competence required**
- Demonstrable knowledge of facilities management in a highly regulated environment
- Proven technical knowledge regarding radioactive, controlled and hazardous wastes
- Excellent office skills to enable communication and report writing (Excel, Word, Outlook, explorer)
- Good interpersonal skills to liaise and influence staff and stake holders at all levels.
- Demonstrable Project management experience
- Experience with Radioactive Materials coordination and working with radioactive, controlled and hazardous waste
- Ability to wear Respiratory Protective Equipment (Dust Masks, Powered Hoods, Pressurised Suits)

**Desirable skills, experience and competence**
- Appointed as a non-classified radiation worker and registered beryllium worker.
- IOSSH Managing Safety Certificate
- Qualification/training in Radioactive substances and waste - environmental compliance
