**What you can expect to be doing**:
You will provide strategic leadership within the QA service and have a matrix management role for some key areas of work including the Pan Dorset Safeguarding Business Manager. You will be responsible for leading senior managers to deliver operational services within the quality assurance Safeguarding teams including safeguarding in education and Designated Officer’s. You will manage performance through support and challenge and will oversee and ensure regulatory compliance and inspection readiness and effective assurance of the quality of practice. The work is varied and will involve providing specialist advice and guidance to operational staff, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of professionals and partners, contribution to the quality assurance framework and supporting service improvement through the identification of themes and issues.

In addition you will:

- Support the Corporate Director and other Senior Manager(s) in the operational management of services, including leading and implementing policies, strategies and projects in aiming to achieve service specific outcomes
- Lead, manage and be accountable for the work of a designated team or teams in accordance with Council policies and procedures within the range of delegated duties;
- Lead on the performance of your team and Key performance indicators of the directorate to ensure robust QA of services.
- Represent the service at internal and external groups, lead project groups, and be responsible for maintaining a wide range of contacts to ensure the effective delivery and provision of the service.
- Take decisions leading to the setting of work standards for others leading to changes in procedures or practice, and with a major impact on the service.
- Lead the Safeguarding partnership functions and work with key stakeholders to deliver the PDCSP priorities.

**About you**:
We are looking for someone who has a social work qualification, who has substantial post qualifying experience of working directly with children and young people who are in care and/or through child protection planning, with an appreciation of the particular needs of our children and young people who are in care.

We need an experienced manager who can demonstrate having led a successful team, has good organisational and prioritisation skills to deliver multiple competing demands. Has some experience of performance data and quality assurance and working with safeguarding partnerships.
