We are currently recruiting for a Corporate Communications Advisor to join the Ministry of Justice on a 7-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Data Improvement team, a 3-year programme which is transforming how MOJ and the Criminal Justice System (CJS) uses data. Our work will support the MOJ data strategy to improve justice outcomes through data-driven insight and innovation, ensure data meets user needs, and build a data culture that values data as a strategic asset.

Communicating our vision, values and successes to stakeholders and staff across MOJ and the CJS is critical to the success of the programme. It is essential to update them on changes, give them the opportunity to contribute or feedback, make sure they know how to get involved or take advantage of training opportunities, and convey the importance of their individual contributions to making the MOJ and the CJS data-driven and evidence-based. A strong communications plan is required to generate momentum and interest in the programme, and lay the groundwork for future change proposals.

We also want to communicate regularly and openly about our work to colleagues in the wider Civil Service so we can find additional opportunities for collaboration, as well as share what we have learned with other teams to generate a wider cultural shift towards prioritising data as a strategic asset.

**As a **Corporate Communications Advisor**your main responsibilities would be**:

- Develop and execute an internal communications plan within MOJ and within the CJS to promote the work of the Data Improvement programme.
- Develop and execute a communication plan for the wider Civil Service to showcase the work of the MOJ/CJS and inspire and collaborate with other departments to bring about wider change
- Support the launch of key milestones across the Data Improvement team
- Collaborate with all workstream leads to identify communications opportunities or engagement issues, and work to address them
- Act as the liaison with the Director General’s office and press office on communications issues
- Establish communications processes and create templates and manage knowledge transfer to other members of the team,
- Identify, analyse, plan for and mitigate against potential reputational risks involved in proactive communications.
- Evolve and iterate the Data Improvement team’s approach to reactive comms as enquiries, Freedom of Information Requests and other queries.
- Work with our Evaluation lead to assess to the effectiveness of engagement and communication tools and identifying opportunities for improvement.

**You’ll have relevant experience in**:

- Developing and delivering internal and external communication strategies for public sector projects (including communication planning, reporting progress, risk, issues and opportunities at a senior forum level).
- Experience of working as part of a project or programme in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary agile and/or digital or data environment.
- Managing a variety of stakeholders, with the ability to identify, analyse and communicate using the appropriate channels.
- Working in government communications preferred
- Ability to build positive and constructive collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and contractors, including those at a senior level, bringing them together to coordinate activity and resources to achieve outcomes and delivering professional communications advice to colleagues in the team and external industry from a range of different professions
- Proven ability to produce communication products/ materials to a high standard utilising the most effective channels and technologies available to deliver messages to maximise impact.
- Professional attitude and service orientation; team player.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong work ethic; ability to work at an abstract level and gain consensus.
